OBJECTIVES

PATRICK MCVEIGH

AUCKLAND BOARD MEMBER

Patrick is the General Manager for Economic Growth at Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development (ATEED).

Patrick has over 20 years economic development experience in both the public and private sector and has led the development of economic, employment and innovation strategies for a wide range of clients and localities.

Prior to moving to New Zealand in 2013, Patrick was the Managing Director of a London based consultancy Shared Intelligence Limited, undertaking assignments for central, regional and local government bodies across the UK. Between 2000 and 2005, Patrick worked at the London Development Agency, where he held several strategic management posts, including that of Head of Evidence and Evaluation and Director of Strategy and Corporate Planning.

Patrick is a Chartered Town Planner (MRTI, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA, a member of the Institute of Economic Development (MIED, and a member of the editorial board for the journal Local Economy.

Patrick has also served as a board member for the European Association of Regional Development Agencies (EURADA, as a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC and as a visiting fellow at the Local Economy Policy Unit at South Bank University.
